It’s likely that the large majority of Nashvillians who have lived here for any marginal amount of time will tell you they’ve heard of, or have visited, at least one of the suite of the MStreet restaurants. The MStreet Entertainment Group’s name is derived from the very street that it dominates, McGavock Street in the Gulch, and offers a variety of trendy options for natives and visitors alike, almost all within a one block radius. MStreet quite literally can satisfy any of your cravings: Italian, Sushi, Mexican, American, and Steakhouse options. Each restaurant offers meticulously prepared food and drink presented with coordinating theme, but also clearly maintains what most (nearly) natives consider the “MStreet style” of casually classy, slightly expensive, and completely bursting at the brim with patrons.
Saint Añejo is one of the newest additions to the restaurant group’s portfolio, opening at the end of 2013. A Mexican “Cantina” that offers a variety of flavorful options in both the food and drink categories. It’s one of those Mexican places that allows for you to leave NOT smelling like fajitas or in a food coma from the density of the cheese and sour cream. Saint Añejo is a pretty great option for margarita lovers who want lighter fare for their Mexican food cravings, but are also okay with having to pay a little bit more than average for it. The trio of salsas that are paired with your standard basket of tortilla chips are ever-changing and always tasty and there are plenty of neatly plated options for vegetarians and carnivores alike.
The glass garage doors and covered patio lining the outer walls of the main dining room, combined with energetic music and TVs displaying the sporting flavor of the week will prove to make for some pleasant summer evenings. Each of their specialty margaritas are even worth a taste. Being a margarita purest, the Casa Perfecta certainly hits the spot and contends for one of the better margaritas on the Nashville Mexican scene at the moment. However the yet-to-be-mastered skinny margarita leaves something to be desired. Perhaps instead, try one of their vast number of tequilas or sneak a peak at their private room, dubbed the Tequila Library Lounge.
Either way, it’s worth a shot if you’re looking for some pretty decent Mexican food in an upbeat setting. This place is not a quiet meal for two, but rather a girls’ night out or a double date gathering place. You’re guaranteed to see native nashvillians taking it all in, so do as the (nearly) native does and pay a visit to MStreet gem.
